By framing these small worlds, we eliminate the visual noise and create calm.

We create a composition where you can lose yourself exploring.

In our day-to-day, busy lives, we need those moments. Moments of quiet, moments of contemplation, moments of just wondering.

Do you remember those days when you were a child and you were wandering through the world, being wandered by the small world just under your feet, the small insects, the little plants, these mosses, lichens, and tiny mushrooms, which together form micro-landscapes?

With this project, we want to activate this experience again. We want to show how incredible nature is, display this wonder, and steer the perception toward the often-overlooked beauty.

Do you know that British Columbia houses 120 types of moss

and 45 species of lichen?

We wanted to present these micro-landscapes in a unique and contemporary way and came up with a collection of specially designed compositions of saucers. The saucers that we are using have a refined and minimal appearance. The saucers are made of fibre cement, a durable material that ages beautifully. It's a material with a soft appearance and a surface where lichen can grow. At our office, we have a saucer and a birdhouse of the same material, and you can see a mosaic of lichen on that surface that developed over a period of 10 years.

We came up with six different compositions, which are all unique and flexible in size.

It's very important to say that we don't harvest from nature. Instead, we harvest from roofs, old barns, sheds and sides that will be developed. The West Coast is rich in the areas where mosses grow abundant, but we don't want to take from any site and ecosystem. We are taking from sites where mosses, lichen, and ferns are not welcome or where they need to be cleaned up, so in that sense, it's mutually beneficial, and we have a source for the micro-landscapes

Below, you will find an overview of the pre-designed installations displaying the micro landscapes.

We came up with six different large compositions, which are all unique in appearance and size.

And we came up with three smaller installations.
